You want to cook healthy for you and your family. But you don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen? Don’t worry none of us do. Here is a list of the best kitchen appliances for busy moms. They will save time in the kitchen while still making sure that everyone in the house is well fed and healthy.
1.Air fryer
As someone who is both busy and eager to eat healthy at the same time, I think the air fryer is the best human invention after electricity. I can talk forever about the benefits of the air fryer, but here are a few:
- saves time – you literally just cut the ingredients, set the right temperature and timing and carry on with your life until you hear the beeper
- easy to clean – we use baking paper for anything that might be greasy or sticky
- good for healthy cooking – you can grill vegetables, fish, meat and more in less than twenty minutes with no oil
In short, the air fryer is one of the must have kitchen appliances and is a total time saver for busy moms. After some research, the air fryer we chose is Nutricook. It is a very good balance between price and performance and it is big enough to cook for a family.
2.Blender
I don’t think I know anyone who eats healthy and is not into smoothies.
- smoothies save time – you just throw in the ingredients and blend them. More importantly you can have the smoothie on the go. The perfect healthy solution for the school run or when running late for meetings.
- easy to clean – rinse it straight away or make sure to soak it if you don’t have time
- healthy variety – there are so many things you can make into a smoothy. You can make them savory (i.e. spinach, avocado, sugar-free almond milk) or sweet (i.e. banana, berries, coconut milk). You can also add whey powder to ensure you are getting enough protein.
Another tip when it comes to smoothies – they are not only for adults. A smoothy can be a perfect way to “hide” healthy foods such as spinach or berries that might be difficult for kids to accept otherwise. I owe this pro tip to licensed child dietician Mirna Sabbagh. Check out her Instagram account for super good tips on introducing solids to babies and feeding toddlers and kids healthy food.
The smoothie blender we have at home is Knutri by Kenwood. What I like most about it is that it is very compact. And it comes with 2Go cups. You blend directly in the cup, screw the lid on and you are out the door in minutes.
3.Baby food maker
If you are a new mom and your baby is starting solids soon, I cannot recommend enough the Avent 4 in 1 combined steamer and blender. This is the number one thing I recommend to each and every single one of my friends when they have a baby.
- saves time – you just need to peel and cut the ingredients. Then you set the timer and go play with your baby (or steal some me time if they are napping)
- easy to clean and assemble/ take apart
- takes up very little space in the kitchen
Cooking healthy food for you and your family does not need to be a lengthy, tedious task. If you have these kitchen appliances, you will not spend more than a few hours per week on preparing healthy and delicious meals.
